A: Firstly welcome to our new website. I have been hyperfocusing on making this site for the past 24 hours, so please look around and see what my ADHD can do (though there are definitely pages I haven’t filled in yet, so no judging pls). This week was mostly spent in North Wales on a Family Holiday, so this week’s roundup is just sort of holiday snaps...

We got super into morning swims! My mum had rented this lush beach hut as part of the holiday which made it so much easier to go swimming and spend long periods at the beach without worrying.

Lili especially loved it. They really like outdoor swimming, but at the same time there are parts of it they find really hard (like getting sandy) that were totally transformed by access to a clean, dry, private space. I think it’s inevitable we’re going to start morning swims down at Aberdour once we’ve recovered a bit from time away. (As you might notice Lili isn’t writing today on account of needing to recover a bit from time away plus phd stress).

We also got to do some more kayaking, after last weeks adventures in an unwieldy double kayak, in two much easier single ones! We then rented a paddle board to give it a go and honestly I was shocked by how difficult it was. I blame the waves entirely, but also maybe I need to strengthen my legs/core a bit? I could barely stand on it at all! Lili managed a little standing paddle before falling into the sea.

My parents had brought a little hobby power kite for my sister which we took out a few times. On a windy day there was definitely a bit of pull, but mostly I was overjoyed to be flying a kite again. I have my eye on a second hand 3m kite on gumtree atm, so watch this space.

Of course we spent much time on holiday eating…. Lili made some epic toasties on the beach, and I tried some great Ice cream in Abersoch. I also got completely addicted to Happy Cow (the vegan tripadvisory-esque site) because I realised you get points for reviews and then prizes for points. Anyway, I filled in our profile with reviews for almost all the restaurants we’d visited in the past 5 years and already have over 500 points (we’re gearsforqueers on happy cow, if you want to follow me). Basically this meant when my mum fancied a nice meal I persuaded her to go to a good vegan place in penrhyndeudraeth called ‘the eating gorilla’. If there’s one thing I’ve learnt about the vegan scene in N.Wales it’s that they make the best cauliflower wings I’ve ever had
